I use canvas or printmaking paper as a substrate. With the concepts of design, composition, balance, harmony, color and space, and a variety of components such as, "found' objects, rice papers, pigments, textured elements from the natural world, fabrics, photographs, and image-transfer techniques, I piece together my materials as if solving a puzzle. This can be a representational study, or an abstraction. To expand and embellish on an idea, I often add multiple layers of paper-cuttings and illustrations, representing a sort of "fantasy narrative" or, if you will, "visual poetry".
