Doris Roberts, VWS
"I began pursuing my life-long interest in art after retiring from a career in music teaching and performance. Many fine oil and watercolor teachers have helped and encourage my endeavors during the past few
years, including Steve Lampasona (Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn, NY), Susanna Spann ( AWS, NWS, FWS and author of Painting "Crystal and Flowers"), Don
Andrews (AWS and author of "Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor"),
and Thomas Torak (OPA, AAPL, Allied Artists of America, Academic Artists Association, and Salmagundi Club).
I am currently a member of two local art leagues, Manhasset Art Association and Suburban Art League, in addition to the Vermont Watercolor Society, where I recently became a Signature Member (VWS)-http://www.vermontwatercolorsociety.com/pages/artist.php?ID=121.
I regularly exhibit at their shows and at other galleries and locations, both in New York and Vermont.
I am very honored to have won numerous awards for both my oils and watercolor works.
Along with two other winning artists, I exhibited many paintings at a three-person show held at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library (NY) in the spring of 2003. I also had two solo exhibits, one at the Jericho Public Library (NY) in 2001 and one at the Islip Art Museum (NY) in 2003. I returned to the Jericho Public Library for another solo show in April, 2005.
Recently, I was selected to show paintings at the Hudson Valley Art Association at the National Arts Club in NYC, and at the American Artists Professional League at the Salmagundi Club, also in NYC."
